Mantle, the premier distribution layer connecting traditional finance and onchain liquidity, is migrating its native cross-chain infrastructure, the Mantle Super Portal, from LayerZero to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). The Super Portal, co-developed with Bybit, will leverage CCIP to strengthen the security of Mantle’s $2.5 billion utility and governance token, MNT, as it moves between different blockchain networks.
Mantle joins numerous protocols, representing a combined TVL of more than $7.2 billion, to adopt CCIP following a LayerZero exploit that resulted in nearly $300 million in losses across DeFi. The move from LayerZero to CCIP reflects an increase in value moving through the Super Portal and a corresponding demand for heightened security.
Chainlink powers 70% of global DeFi markets across 80+ networks and has enabled over $32 trillion in onchain transaction value. As the only oracle platform to achieve ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 attestation, Chainlink is being adopted by the world’s largest financial institutions, including Swift, Euroclear, UBS, Wellington Management, ANZ, and Fidelity International, to bring capital markets onchain.
CCIP maintains the industry’s highest level of cross-chain security, backed by a separate Risk Management Network. Compared to bridge solutions with only one or two centrally controlled nodes, each CCIP bridge lane is secured by at least 16 independent, security-reviewed node operators, while native rate limits act as circuit breakers to help limit the impact of anomalies or extreme volatility.
MNT has also adopted Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard, which allows Mantle to configure all transfer controls and maintain full autonomy and ownership over its smart contracts and cross-chain token pool.
“As tokenized financial assets move from concept to scale, the infrastructure that carries them across chains cannot be an afterthought,” said Emily Bao, Key Advisor at Mantle, in an official announcement.
“Deprecating our legacy bridging solution and migrating the Super Portal to Chainlink CCIP brings every MNT cross-chain transfer in line with the security standards of the world’s largest financial institutions. It is the level of assurance the next phase of on-chain finance demands.”
“We’re continuing to see an industry trend of leading protocols upgrading their cross-chain infrastructure to meet the requirements of institutional adoption,” added Chainlink Labs’ Chief Business Officer, Johann Eid.
“Mantle’s migration to Chainlink CCIP reflects the growing recognition that secure-by-default infrastructure is critical for any cross-chain deployment to succeed at scale.”
