Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) is the industry standard for digital asset and data transfer used by leading blockchains, layer-2s, DeFi protocols, and traditional financial institutions to unlock new use cases and markets for crypto, stablecoins, and tokenized assets.
This week, global blockchain gaming platform WEMIX expanded its CCIP integration to support the new USDC.e stablecoin, designed to facilitate seamless and secure transfers of Circle’s widely used, USD-pegged stablecoin, USDC, on the WEMIX3.0 mainnet.
CCIP leverages Chainlink’s time-tested oracle infrastructure, which has enabled over $22 trillion in transaction value, to achieve the highest level of cross-chain security reinforced by a separate Risk Management Network. Using a burn and mint mechanism, USDC.e is minted on the WEMIX3.0 mainnet after an equivalent amount of USDC is bridged to WEMIX3.0 and burned on the Ethereum network.
In an official announcement, Shane Kim, CEO of WEMIX PTE. LTD., said, “It is quite significant that the stablecoin, USDC.e, is being deployed on WEMIX3.0 through our collaboration with Circle and Chainlink, two global leaders in the blockchain industry.”
“The expansion of USDC.e to WEMIX3.0 via Chainlink CCIP represents a major step toward stablecoins becoming truly interoperable across all chains, enabling borderless gaming economies, all powered by Chainlink,” Chainlink Labs’ Chief Business Officer, Johann Eid, told Chainlink Today.
