This week, Tempo, a payments-first blockchain incubated by Stripe and Paradigm, announced it integrated Chainlink Data Feeds to power stablecoin payments at scale.
Launched earlier this year, Tempo was explicitly built to move digital dollars and stablecoins. Tempo can handle 100,000 transactions per second at less than a cent per transaction, allowing businesses, banks, and fintech apps to make low-cost cross-border payments, payroll, and merchant payouts quickly and efficiently.
As the only oracle platform to meet ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 institutional security standards, Chainlink powers the vast majority of DeFi. With more than 2,000 Chainlink Price Feeds holding 70% of the total oracle market, Chainlink has enabled over $33 trillion in onchain transaction value.
Applications on Tempo can now utilize Chainlink’s industry-standard, secure-by-default onchain pricing infrastructure to value collateral, compare FX reference rates, monitor risk, and automate financial workflows, eliminating the need to build and maintain custom oracle infrastructure.
Data Feeds add utility to Tempo Earn, an embedded yield product that allows fintechs and platforms to offer rewards on idle stablecoin balances. Earn applications can use Data Feeds to value collateral, set borrowing limits, and monitor position health, while enterprises can support products that leverage stablecoin balances as collateral for liquidity and working capital use.
“Tempo is building a high-performance ecosystem for stablecoins, and Chainlink Data Feeds give its developers the reliable market data required to launch secure financial applications, expand the use of stablecoins as collateral, and accelerate their utility across onchain markets,” said Thodoris Karakostas, Director of Global Partnerships at Chainlink Labs.
Eric Kang, GTM at Tempo, said, “Payments are the starting point for stablecoins on Tempo. Financial applications built around those payments need dependable market data to value collateral, compare exchange rates, and manage risk. Chainlink Data Feeds give developers reliable data infrastructure for those applications.”
