April 2025 Recap: PayPal Adds Chainlink, Ronin Completes CCIP Migration, Kamino Integrates Data Streams

In April, PayPal expanded its crypto offerings to include Chainlink (LINK) for PayPal and Venmo users in the U.S. The recently launched Chainlink Payment Abstraction system positions LINK as a universal gas token for purchasing Chainlink’s essential oracle services, which have enabled over $20 trillion in transaction value.

Leading web3 gaming ecosystem Ronin, whose validators overwhelmingly voted to adopt Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as the network’s canonical cross-chain infrastructure last October, officially migrated all assets representing $450M+ in TVL from the deprecated Ronin Bridge to CCIP.

Trung Nguyen, CEO of Sky Mavis, which launched Ronin and its breakthrough web3 game Axie Infinity in 2021, described the CCIP migration as a “major unlock” for the next generation of web3 games on Ronin as the network continues to scale.

Kamino Finance, the largest DeFi lending protocol on Solana with over $2 billion in TVL, officially integrated Chainlink Data Streams into its upgraded oracle system, increasing the protocol’s resiliency and reducing user risk.

Data Streamspull-based oracle solution allows protocols to consume data more cost-effectively and at lower latencies while reducing the possibility of frontrunning and MEV. Kamino highlighted Data Streams’ “consistently strong results” on testnet prior to the full integration, which adds a “significant measure of robustness” and increases user confidence.

Adoption of the Chainlink standard, which supports a spectrum of tokenized real-world assets and stablecoins issuers from top DeFi protocols to some of the world’s largest financial institutions, continued to accelerate in April.

Puffer Finance, a liquid restaking protocol with over $140 million in TVL, adopted the Chainlink standard for cross-chain interoperability and verifiable data.

Decentralized, over-collateralized stablecoin protocol TheStandard integrated Chainlink Automation and Functions to power secure, data-driven redemptions for its USD-pegged stablecoin, USDs.

Cap, a decentralized stablecoin protocol for covered yield at scale, integrated Chainlink Price Feeds on Ethereum mainnet to help secure the minting mechanism for its interest-bearing stablecoin, cUSD.

AI-driven DeFi platform Sherpa joined the Chainlink Build program to accelerate the secure development of its multilayered aggregation and predictive analytics services through Chainlink’s industry-leading oracle services.

Chainlink also announced its annual premier web3 conference, SmartCon, will take place November 4-5 at Manhattan’s Metropolitan Pavilion, marking the event’s return to New York City for the first time since 2021. This year’s theme, “From Crypto to Capitol Hill,” will feature transformative web3 use cases across capital markets and governments around the world, with particular focus on the evolving U.S. digital asset landscape.
