FTSE Russell’s Kirsten Mierzwa On Bringing Index Data Onchain With Chainlink

A new episode of Chainlink’s “The Future Is On” series features Kirsten Mierzwa, Head of Digital Assets at FTSE Russell, who shared key insights on why bringing index data onchain is critical for the next generation of financial markets.

“We always felt strongly convinced that digital assets was an asset class in and of itself and that it was here to stay,” Mierzwa explained.

“So for us, it’s the growth engine of what are already very established business lines.”

FTSE Russell indices are globally adopted, with over $18 trillion in assets under management (AUM) benchmarked. In 2025, FTSE Russell announced a collaboration with Chainlink to bring this world-leading index data onchain via Chainlink’s institutional-grade data publishing service, DataLink.

DataLink employs Chainlink’s hyper-reliable oracle infrastructure, which has enabled over $29 trillion in transaction value, to provide a turnkey service for data owners such as Deutsche Börse, S&P Global Ratings, and Coinbase to seamlessly, securely, and reliably publish data onchain without the need to build or maintain new infrastructure.

“We think of working with Chainlink as another distribution arm for us to get our data into the hands of our asset managers and clients who are structuring financial product,” Mierzwa said.

Chainlink’s blockchain-agnostic decentralized oracle infrastructure makes data for the Russell 1000, Russell 2000, Russell 3000 and FTSE 100 Indexes; WMR FX benchmarks; FTSE DAR Digital Asset Prices; and FTSE Digital Asset Indices available across more than 60 blockchains, with access on more chains expected in the future.

“We believe that we’re going to be in a multi-chain world and we need to see interoperability happening,” Mierzwa said.

“To do that, we want to make it as easy as possible for people to access our data onchain via Chainlink.”

She believes the future of finance will marry the benefits of TradFi and DeFi into a faster, more efficient onchain ecosystem where indices are truly 24/7.

“What we need to do is have those underlying constituents trading 24/7 first and then we’re going to get to that day where everything is going all the time and you can manage risk in a much more efficient way.”
