Chainlink, Mastercard Partnership Allows 3 Billion Cardholders To Buy Crypto Onchain

Today, Chainlink, the standard for onchain finance, and Mastercard, the global payments technology company, announced their partnership to give three billion cardholders the ability to purchase crypto directly onchain via the new Swapper Finance platform.

Swapper Finance leverages XSwap, a leading DEX that uses the Chainlink standard for data and interoperability, via an integration between infrastructure provider zerohash and integrated payment processor Shift4 Payments, as well as onchain liquidity sourced from Uniswap

Combining these technologies creates a unified, compliant, and intuitive user interface that bridges the gap between crypto-native and real-world user experience through secure fiat-to-crypto conversion.

Having enabled more than $22 trillion in transaction value, Chainlink provides the most widely adopted set of protocols powering a spectrum of tokenized real-world assets and stablecoins that bridge the gap between traditional and onchain finance. Chainlink’s industry-standard infrastructure makes it possible for Mastercard holders to directly access crypto onchain by verifying and synchronizing key transaction details.

In an official announcement, Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov praised Chainlink’s “complex and multilayered collaboration” with Mastercard, Swapper Finance, XSwap, Shift4, and zerohash to establish an innovative implementation that plugs billions of mainstream cardholders into the next generation of decentralized exchanges.

“This is the type of traditional finance and decentralized finance convergence that Chainlink was built to make possible,” he said.

“There’s no doubt about it – people want to be able to easily connect to the digital assets ecosystem, and vice versa,” added Raj Dhamodharan, EVP of Blockchain and Digital Assets at Mastercard.

“In coming together with Chainlink, we’re unlocking a secure and innovative way to revolutionize onchain commerce and drive the broader adoption of crypto assets.”
