This week, Chainlink Labs, the primary contributing developer to Chainlink’s industry-standard oracle network, officially joined the Global Alliance for KRW Stablecoins (GAKS) led by WEMADE, one of South Korea’s largest game developers.
KRW stablecoins are pegged to the South Korean Won to maintain a stable value. GAKS was established in November of 2025 to expand compliant real-world usage of KRW-backed stablecoins such as KRWQ, the first KRW-pegged stablecoin which launched today on the Fraxal blockchain.
Other new GAKS alliance members include Chainalysis, a blockchain data analytics and compliance firm; CertiK, a blockchain security audit firm; and SentBe, a global fintech and international remittance company. Chainlink Labs will support technical standard establishment and infrastructure enhancement based on its global market expertise. Alliance members will have the opportunity to leverage Chainlink’s platform to power key tokenized asset use cases.
Having facilitated over $27 trillion in transaction value, Chainlink secures the vast majority of DeFi and is the leading infrastructure provider connecting global financial institutions such as Swift and UBS to the blockchain economy while supporting government use cases by delivering data from the U.S. Department of Commerce onchain. Chainlink will play a critical role in ensuring KRW stablecoins maintain data integrity and stability aligned with global financial market standards.
