April 2021 Recap: Chainlink Announces 2.0 Whitepaper, 36 Integrations, UNICEF Grant

April was a busy month full of huge news for Chainlink. The much-anticipated Chainlink 2.0 whitepaper is an exciting 136-page look at the next few years of innovation from Chainlink, including new concepts like super-linear staking, Keepers and Fair Sequencing Service (FSS). Chainlink integrated with 36 teams, rounding out the month by announcing that a Chainlink Community Grant will be awarded to support the UNICEF Innovation Fund and the UNICEF CryptoFund.

The Chainlink Community Grant will help support startups building blockchain-based solutions with UNICEF by offering funding, mentorship and access to Chainlink’s expertise. The grant’s big-picture goal is to accelerate blockchain as a force for good, especially in developing regions of the world where innovative blockchain solutions are needed most.

In the grant’s official announcement, Director of UNICEF’s Office of Innovation Thomas Davin said, “We are grateful that Chainlink is contributing to our work geared towards showing how blockchain and cryptocurrency can drive more transparent and globally accessible investment in open-source solutions that solve the most pressing challenges facing children.”

The UNICEF CryptoFund supports initiatives like “applying AI analytics to public services in Argentina, making sensitive clinical data portable and private in Mexico, using an interactive voice response platform in Cambodia to educate people about Covid-19, and improving food and vaccine distribution in India.”
