The Graph To Expand GRT’s Reach With Chainlink CCIP

This week, leading blockchain data indexing and query protocol, The Graph, announced its upcoming integration of Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to facilitate secure, seamless transfers of its native GRT token across Arbitrum, Base, and Solana while establishing a framework for future cross-chain functionality.

Launched in 2018, The Graph has enabled tens of thousands of developers to build subgraphs exposing specific blockchain data in a structured and queryable format, as well as substreams that further enhance data indexing and processing. In 2020, The Graph first integrated Chainlink oracles to relay indexed data from subgraphs to smart contracts, creating new opportunities for developers to build advanced decentralized applications. Essentially, the protocol performs like a Google for blockchains, having processed over 1.2 trillion requests.

As the industry standard for cross-chain asset and data transfer, CCIP leverages Chainlink’s time-tested oracle infrastructure, which has enabled over $20 trillion in transaction value, to achieve the highest level of cross-chain security reinforced by a separate Risk Management Network. CCIP’s many benefits include the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard, which allows any ERC-20-compatible token to be turned into a CCT with additional security and reliability benefits.

CCIP will increase the multi-chain accessibility of GRT, the $1B+ market cap token used by indexers, curators, and delegators to participate in The Graph’s network governance and earn rewards. The integration’s first phase will deploy GRT’s bridging infrastructure, with enhancements such as cross-chain staking, delegation, and query fee payments considered for the future.
