The Chainlink Scale program is designed to accelerate the growth of blockchain and layer-2 ecosystems by giving developers enhanced access to Chainlink’s industry-leading web3 services. This week, Sonic Labs (formerly Fantom) announced it joined Scale and will integrate Chainlink Data Feeds and Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) into the new Sonic high-speed EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) chain.
As the industry-leading decentralized computing platform, Chainlink provides a comprehensive set of services that are critical for scaling onchain finance to billions of global users. Leveraging Chainlink’s time-tested oracle infrastructure, which has proven secure and reliable even during adverse and unexpected events such as flash loan attacks, Data Feeds have enabled over $15 trillion in transaction value throughout the web3 economy.
As the standard for cross-chain digital asset and data transfer, CCIP achieves the highest level of cross-chain security and features a separate Risk Management Network that independently monitors cross-chain functions for suspicious activity. Leading DeFi protocols and decentralized exchanges as well as traditional financial institutions are integrating CCIP to unlock new use cases, markets, and onchain utility.
“We’re excited that Sonic Labs has joined the Chainlink Scale program, and that Chainlink Data Feeds and CCIP are being integrated on Sonic,” said Chainlink Labs Chief Business Officer Johann Eid in an official announcement. “By empowering Sonic developers with increased access to Chainlink services, they’re able to build secure, scalable, and fully-featured on-chain apps.”
The ultimate goal of Scale is to facilitate a sustainable economic model in which a network’s dApps generate sufficient revenue from user fees to fully cover the backend costs of oracle services. As more blockchain networks securely scale through Chainlink oracles, the cryptoeconomic security of the Chainlink Network and the entire web3 ecosystem follows suit.
“We joined Chainlink Scale because it’s one of the most popular ways to make industry-standard oracle services available to Sonic developers,” said Sonic Labs CEO Michael Kong. “Chainlink Data Feeds will enable the development of high-quality DeFi applications, while CCIP will provide secure and reliable blockchain interoperability for the Sonic ecosystem. Developers asked for Chainlink, and we have it.”
