Sergey Nazarov Anticipates White House Crypto Summit On Bloomberg

Ahead of the first-ever White House Crypto Summit, which he will attend alongside other web3 industry leaders, Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov joined Bloomberg Crypto hosts Tim Stenovec and Sonali Basak to discuss how the U.S. can become a dominant force in the new global blockchain economy.

During the summit, organized by White House AI and crypto czar, former PayPal COO David Sacks, Nazarov expects discussions to revolve around stablecoin and market structure legislation, as well as the recent Executive Order to establish a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile.

He said the new administration is focused on answering two key questions:

“How do you create a level of leadership from the United States in the web3 economy and how does the U.S. financial system, as it transitions into a web3/blockchain-powered format, remain the dominant leading financial system in the global system?”

Nazarov has made multiple trips to D.C. this year, beginning with a series of inauguration weekend events including the first Inaugural Crypto Ball. Last month, Nazarov met with U.S. government representatives including Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Artificial Intelligence, Bryan Steil, and Counselor to the Secretary of Treasury for Digital Assets, Tyler Williams, to discuss American blockchain policy.

Echoing his conversation with Williams, Nazarov underscored his belief that the path to American leadership in blockchain adoption is through tokenizing U.S. assets onchain.

“There’s a number of mechanisms and questions around how do you create the proper regulation so that the U.S. is the financial system where critical base assets are generated and then repackaged across other financial systems,” he told Bloomberg. “And then you have various questions around compliance and stablecoins.”
