Optimism Joins Chainlink Scale With All Chainlink Services Live On OP Mainnet

The Chainlink Scale program is designed to accelerate the growth of blockchain and layer-2 ecosystems by giving developers enhanced access to Chainlink’s industry-leading web3 services. This week, unified Superchain network Optimism announced it has joined Scale and made all of Chainlink’s web3 services live on OP Mainnet, a scalable layer-2 built on the Superchain and powered by Optimism’s OP Stack.

As a member of Scale, Optimism will cover certain operating costs of Chainlink oracles for a period of time while developers gain access to the web3 infrastructure needed to build innovative applications on OP Mainnet’s optimistic rollup network, which is designed to leverage Ethereum’s strong security guarantees while reducing its cost and latency.

As the industry-leading decentralized computing platform, Chainlink has enabled over over $17 trillion in transaction value and provides a comprehensive set of oracle services that are critical for scaling onchain finance to billions of global users. The addition of Data Streams, Functions, and VRF (Verifiable Random Function) to OP Mainnet provides developers with the complete Chainlink toolkit needed to build feature-rich dApps that broaden Ethereum’s reach.

“Optimism joining Chainlink Scale, and the Chainlink standard being natively available to developers on OP Mainnet is a great step for the ecosystem,” said Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs, in an official announcement.

“Bridging the gap between Web2 and Web3 with Functions will allow for more growth and adoption, Data Streams will enable ultra-fast yet secure DeFi apps, and VRF will level up the integrity of blockchain-based games and other onchain apps leveraging verifiable randomness.”

Marine Andraud, Infrastructure Partnership Lead at Optimism Unlimited, emphasized how Optimism’s participation in Scale will ultimately drive the mass adoption of blockchain technology.

“We joined Chainlink Scale to make the Chainlink standard available to Optimism ecosystem developers, empowering them to build the best applications,” she said.

“Chainlink Functions will streamline the experience of connecting Web2 data into Web3 apps on OP Mainnet, Data Streams will support the creation of advanced, secure, and low-latency DeFi apps, and VRF will support high-integrity apps.”
