Corn Adopts Chainlink Standard To Enable Secure Cross-Chain BTCFi

Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) is the industry standard for digital asset and data transfer used by leading blockchains, layer-2s, DeFi protocols, and traditional financial institutions to unlock new use cases and markets for crypto, stablecoins, and tokenized assets

Today, Corn, a Bitcoin-centric Ethereum layer-2 powered by Arbitrum, announced it adopted the Chainlink standard by integrating CCIP to enable secure cross-chain token transfers for BTC assets that drive the adoption of DeFi on Bitcoin (BTCFi).

As the first Bitcoin-secured network by Babylon with liquidity support for BTC liquid staking tokens (LSTs), Corn uses the 1:1 pegged, hybrid tokenized Bitcoin, Bitcorn (BTCN), as its gas token and introduces the Bitcoin Clearing House, a novel trustless system that allows users to mint BTCN by depositing approved collateral assets.

Leveraging Chainlink’s battle-tested decentralized oracle network, which has enabled over $19 trillion in transaction value across 20+ blockchains, CCIP achieves the highest level of cross-chain security and features a separate Risk Management Network that independently monitors for suspicious activity. The new CCIP v1.5 upgrade allows developers on supported blockchains to turn any ERC-20-compatible token into a Cross-Chain Token (CCT).

In an official announcement, Corn co-founder Spadaboom underscored the network’s ability to broaden its reach through Chainlink’s battle-tested infrastructure.

“CCIP enables developers from across the multi-chain landscape to securely expand with Corn and build next-gen Bitcoin-centric DeFi solutions,” he said.

“We’re thrilled that Corn is adopting the Chainlink standard for cross-chain interoperability,” added Thodoris Karakostas, Head of Blockchain Partnerships at Chainlink Labs.

“Chainlink CCIP is critical for enabling secure cross-chain BTCFi, and we’re excited to see how Corn developers will leverage CCIP’s capabilities to realize novel cross-chain use cases.”
