Chainlink Co-Founder Sergey Nazarov’s fascinating conversation with Demetri Kofinas about “Solving the Oracle Problem” on a recent episode of the Hidden Forces podcast examined the philosophical nuances of decentralized finance. Kofinas and Nazarov ultimately arrived at a palpable “flower patch analogy” for Chainlink’s decentralized oracle networks, where each flower is an oracle network, each petal is a node and – though some flowers may have more petals than others – there’s no limit to how many flowers could potentially exist.
Hidden Forces’ Patreon supporters tuned in to the episode’s exclusive overtime, where the conversation moved into more technical topics ranging from the hyperautomation provided by smart contracts, how oracle networks offer flexibility of governance, avoiding flash loan attacks and the flaws of centralized closed source systems. Kofinas posed further metaphysical talking points, such as whether the analog world’s culture is keeping up with the speed of digital complexity.
These reflections culminated in a profound expression of appreciation for the Chainlink community. “People are not just expressing their view or an idea around investing; they’re also kind of expressing a view about what they want the future to look like,” Kofinas said of the rapid and vivid evolution of ideas within the Chainlink ecosystem, which has cultivated its own jargon, memes and multimedia art.
“I am extremely grateful to all the people who have supported us from the earliest days, to now, to tomorrow, in all their positive ideas and representations of what we do,” Nazarov said. “I’ve worked on many different systems in my life; none of them have gotten the type of attention that this system has gotten, and I think that’s because it is related to a fundamental change in how the world works.”
Because he admittedly doesn’t spend a lot of time on social media, Nazarov seized this opportunity to voice his gratitude: “I genuinely wake up every single day being deeply, deeply grateful that there are other people out there in the world who find what our team is working on to be important.”
