Today, Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) went live on Hedera, a leading enterprise-grade public network for the decentralized economy. Developers can now leverage the industry standard for cross-chain asset and data transfer across more than 46 blockchains to build highly secure, multi-chain applications that advance DeFi and tokenized real-world asset (RWA) adoption throughout Hedera’s ecosystem.
Hedera’s longstanding collaboration with Chainlink dates back to 2021, when Chainlink Labs became the first crypto-native firm to join the Hedera Council, which oversees distributed governance of the Hedera network.
Last year, the HBAR Foundation, which supports Hedera’s sustainable long-term growth, joined the Chainlink Scale program to provide developers with enhanced access to Chainlink’s industry-leading web3 services, beginning with high-quality data and reserves verification through Chainlink Data Feeds and Proof of Reserve (PoR).
Data Feeds, PoR, and CCIP leverage Chainlink’s time-tested oracle infrastructure, which has securely enabled over $20 trillion in transaction value. CCIP achieves the highest level of cross-chain security reinforced by a separate Risk Management Network, while the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard allows developers on supported blockchains to turn any ERC-20-compatible token into a CCT within minutes.
In an official announcement, Greg Scullard, Executive Director, Developer Advocacy, EMEA at Hashgraph, the team providing engineering and support for the core Hedera platform, emphasized CCIP’s critical role in advancing DeFi and tokenization on Hedera.
“We can’t wait to see the novel cross-chain apps the Hedera community builds with this game-changing standard,” he said.
“We’re excited to see the Chainlink standard for cross-chain interoperability live on Hedera mainnet,” added Thodoris Karakostas, Head of Blockchain Partnerships at Chainlink Labs.
“Along with Chainlink Data Feeds and Proof of Reserve on Hedera, CCIP enables developers to build secure cross-chain apps that drive adoption and expand Hedera’s DeFi and tokenized RWA ecosystems.”
