Chainlink CCIP, Data Streams, Data Feeds Live On Soneium Mainnet

Soneium, the Ethereum layer-2 created by Sony Block Solution Labs, announced this week that Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), Data Feeds, and Data Streams are now live on mainnet, giving developers the necessary tools to build next-gen, feature-rich web3 applications.

Sony Block Solutions Labs, a joint venture between global entertainment company Sony Group Corporation and web3 innovator Startale, announced the creation of Soneium last August with Chainlink as an official launch partner. Shortly after, Soneium joined the Chainlink Scale program to accelerate its ecosystem’s growth by giving developers enhanced access to Chainlink’s vital web3 services.

As the standard for verifiable onchain data, Chainlink Data Feeds have reliably enabled over $19 trillion in transaction value even during volatile market conditions and adverse events such as flash loan attacks. Chainlink’s pull-based oracle solution, Data Streams, further expands DeFi’s reach by allowing protocols to consume data more cost-effectively and at lower latencies while reducing the risk of frontrunning and MEV.

Soneium is leveraging CCIP as its canonical cross-chain infrastructure. Because CCIP achieves the highest level of cross-chain security and features a separate Risk Management Network that independently monitors for suspicious activity, it has become the prevailing model for cross-chain digital asset and data transfer among leading DeFi protocols, decentralized exchanges, and traditional financial institutions

Soneium was conceived to leverage Sony Group’s vast global distribution network across entertainment, finance, electronics, and gaming to bridge the gap between web3 innovation and everyday consumer applications.

“Soneium has continued to show real momentum with its mainnet launch, while playing an important role in the industry in terms of increased scalability, exposure, and access to new audiences both within Japan and in the broader market,” said Chainlink Labs’ Chief Business Officer, Johann Eid, in an official announcement.

“Chainlink CCIP, Data Streams and Data Feeds now give developers on Soneium the ability to build onchain apps much more seamlessly and securely than before, helping to increase adoption of the layer-2 solution built by Sony Block Solution Labs.”

Sony Block Solutions Labs’ Chairman, Jun Watanabe, affirmed Chainlink’s fundamental role in building Soneium’s vision for an open internet.

“Chainlink CCIP, Data Streams and Data Feeds are essential for those in Soneium’s developer ecosystem to realize novel onchain use cases for users,” he said. “Developers now have access to critical Chainlink infrastructure that will allow them to expand what’s possible to build on Soneium.”
