Celo Integrates Chainlink Data Feeds

Celo is a carbon-negative, permissionless, layer-1 protocol that is accessible to anyone with a mobile phone and supports an ecosystem of over 1,000 web3 applications geared toward building a regenerative finance (ReFi) economy. In April, Celo joined Chainlink SCALE to accelerate its ecosystem’s growth by giving developers low-cost access to Chainlink’s industry-leading oracle services.

Today, Celo announced that Chainlink Data Feeds are now live on Celo mainnet, giving developers the secure, reliable data needed to build the next generation of advanced ReFi-focused, mobile-accessible DeFi applications.

“Chainlink is the industry-standard oracle solution for blockchains and dApps,” said Xochitl Cazador, Head of Ecosystem Growth at the Celo Foundation, in an official announcement. “Chainlink Data Feeds will empower Celo developers, providing critical access to oracle data and services and bolster Celo’s dApps to drive real-world impact and solutions.”

Cazador told Chainlink Today that giving developers the ability to build with Chainlink oracles is an essential part of Celo’s mission to promote and support the growth of regenerative DeFi applications.

“Chainlink Data Feeds provide tools necessary for our developers to leverage blockchain for projects focused on financial inclusion, including universal basic income disbursement protocols and inclusive peer-to-peer payment platforms,” she said.

Johann Eid, VP of Go-To-Market at Chainlink Labs, said Celo’s native Chainlink integration is poised to “power a new era of DeFi” by allowing developers to innovate new use cases secured by Chainlink’s time-tested data feeds.

“The superior uptime, accuracy, and security guarantees provided by Chainlink decentralized oracle networks will enable Celo developers to build more advanced applications that help advance the Web3 space.”
