The Chainlink Scale program is designed to accelerate the growth of blockchain and layer-2 ecosystems by giving developers enhanced access to Chainlink’s industry-leading web3 services. Today, Botanix Labs announced it has joined Scale and will integrate Chainlink Data Feeds and Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) into Spiderchain, the first fully decentralized EVM-equivalent layer-2 network on Bitcoin.
Botanix Labs was founded in 2022 with the goal of building technologies that enable secure DeFi on Bitcoin (BTCFi). Spiderchain brings numerous benefits to the Bitcoin ecosystem including greater scalability, reduced fees, programmable smart contract functionality, and deeper liquidity.
As the industry-leading decentralized computing platform, Chainlink provides a comprehensive set of services that are critical for scaling onchain finance to billions of global users.
Leveraging Chainlink’s time-tested oracle infrastructure, Data Feeds have enabled over $16 trillion in transaction value throughout the DeFi economy. By integrating Data Feeds into Spiderchain, Botanix aims to accelerate the development of feature-rich DeFi applications on Bitcoin to drive adoption and unlock the full potential of BTCFi.
Furthermore, Botanix selected CCIP as Spiderchain’s canonical cross-chain infrastructure because it achieves the highest level of cross-chain security and features a separate Risk Management Network that independently monitors for suspicious activity. Additionally, CCIP’s Programmable Token Transfers allow tokens to move between chains with instructions for use on the destination chain, unlocking advanced cross-chain applications.
“Botanix is the first Bitcoin layer-2 to join Scale, a significant step in helping its developers to build secure, scalable, and fully-featured dApps on Bitcoin,” said Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs. “Bitcoin layer-2s are redefining how the world views Bitcoin, and they’re setting in motion a new wave of momentum that will undoubtedly enrich the Bitcoin ecosystem and the greater blockchain industry.”
“We are excited to work with Chainlink to bring the best of DeFi to Bitcoin,” said Alisia Painter, co-founder and COO at Botanix Labs. “By joining Chainlink Scale, Botanix Labs can ensure our ecosystem projects have access to the industry-leading tools needed to build secure and advanced decentralized applications.”
